Llano Estacado Challenge

The Crown of Texas Arabian Horse Club is holding its annual Llano Estacado Challenge horse endurance race Saturday and Sunday, June 16th & 17th, at Plum Creek recreation area North of Amarillo. The horse club is requesting communications assistance from the local amateur radio community to coordinate the race and provide emergency communications as necessary. We have assisted with this interesting event for many years now and it is an excellent means of practicing our emergency communications skills in the field.

The horse club provides excellent campfire meals. Bring your own water jug, sunscreen, and camping gear if you intend to spend the night. A shovel and a roll of your favorite toilet paper would also be a good idea. You’ll need at least a 35 watt mobile vhf transceiver.

There will be more information to follow.

Please call Adair Winter, KD5DYP, to volunteer to help at 806 231-7180.
