This is a directed, training net for passing information concerning Emergency Preparedness, SKYWARN, and amateur radio in general, as well as other information of interest to the Panhandle Amateur Radio Club and the local amateur radio community. An additional purpose of this net is to identify operating repeaters in the Caprock Intertie Repeater System capable of responding effectively during an area-wide emergency.
All properly licensed amateur radio operators are welcome to join this session of the Panhandle Amateur Radio Club ARES Net. This is an open net serving all amateur radio operators – and we also welcome all those who are listening this evening on scanners.
If there are there any stations on backup or emergency power or any portable or mobile stations that may be leaving the coverage area of the repeater soon, please come now with your callsign to __________.

This net is affiliated with the Amateur Radio Emergency Service. This net meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 1930 local time. If you are interested in volunteering to serve as net control operator for for the ARES Nets, please contact Bob Sanders, N5TBD, ARES Chair or Carl Jeans, N5YXN, ARES Vice Chair, to be added to the rotation.
ARES training sessions will be held on the second Tuesday of each month at 1930 at the Amarillo Emergency Services building. For information on becoming an ARES member, please contact the local county EC, or check out the postings on the ARES website at www.PanhandleARES.org.
