The next regular meeting of ARES will be Saturday February 2nd at approximately 10:30 am after the PARC meeting. Our meetings are currently located at the Amarillo Emergency Services Building at 1900 Line Avenue in Amarillo, TX. Everyone is welcome to participate.
Additionally, we encourage all amateur radio operators to participate in the ARES Net every Thursday at 7:30 pm on the Caprock Intertie linked repeater system. The purpose of this net is to provide communications during emergencies and to provide training in procedures that would apply in actual emergencies and test communications capabilities of the Caprock Intertie system.

Hey, y’all, had a great time and learned a lot last night. Great to meet you all! I found out a few things on the NATIONAL REGISTRY OF CERTIFIED EMCOMM VOLUNTEERS site after we got home, about the ECOMM training–Thought I’d leave a link here so that maybe we could open a discussion about this training…

Hey, I did some research, and the link I provided above is listed on the Homeland Security’s First Responder Website, which also has many other training links for those who may be interested.
The fee for the NRCEV training is $25 per person, or $45 per team.

The meeting on Tuesday March 9th 2010 will be a short meeting for the purpose of voting on a proposal to disolve PRCAR as a separate entity and merge with PARC creating an ARES committee. The meeting will be followed by SKYWARN certification training that will last approximately 2 hours.

Although we had severe storms with large hail in northern Potter County last night, our training session was still held. The storms were over open country and no tornados were reported. I would like to thank Derek and PJ with the Panhandle Regional Advisory Committee for hosting and presenting the CPR and AED for Adult, Child and Infant training. 11 were in attendance and all received an official certification in this important life saving skill. I am looking forward to the Basic First-Aid training next month. 73 y’all
